Jack Pfiester was an important part of the 1908 Cubs starting rotation. His nickname was "The Giant Killer" because so many of his wins came against the Cubs biggest rival.

Al Bridwell got what should have been the game winning hit for the Giants in the 1908 Merkle Boner game.

Mordecai Brown was the best pitcher on the best Cubs team of all-time. He was known by his nickname "Three Finger" because he lost a digit in a farming accident. He is a member of baseball's Hall of Fame.
