The Peerless Leader was not only the first baseman of the best Cubs teams of all-time, he was the manager, and the de-facto general manager who assembled these great teams. He is a member of baseball's Hall of Fame.

Wildfire Schulte was a starting outfielder on the 1908 World Champion Cubs. He played in four World Series for the Cubs and was the last member of the last champion to leave the team (in 1916).

Solly Hofman was an important part of the 1908 World Champion Cubs—a utility infielder/outfielder. He played every position except shortstop, catcher, and pitcher. In the 1908 Merkle Boner game, he was playing centerfield.
