Mission Statement

Every Friday the JOBC staff scours the internet to bring you Cubs-related video and audio you might not have seen or heard before.

This week we told the tale of Lou Boudreau's one year journey from radio broadcaster to manager to radio broadcaster. Once he returned to broadcasting, one of his duties (during the mid to late 1960s) was interviewing Leo Durocher for the pre-game show on WGN. The two old friends constantly razzed each other before getting down to business.

Many of these "outtakes" were preserved and swapped from radio guy to radio guy over the past few decades, and a few of them were even sent to us. Before you click on these clips, realize that they haven't been bleeped and every single one of them has foul language. If you're under 18, don't click. If you're easily offended, don't click.

Remember...they didn't call Leo Durocher "The Lip" for nothing.

Another guy who spent quite a bit of time with Durocher was broadcaster Vince Lloyd. In this video he tells a Leo Durocher story that involves Don Kessinger...

Lou Boudreau has a tie-in to another team that hasn't won it all in a very long time--the Cleveland Indians. He was the player-manager of the last Indians team to win the World Series...in 1948. Watch this video to see him play during the 1948 World Series. (Wow...it's been 60 years for the Indians this year too.)

If you have any Cubs songs you've written or discovered, let us know and we'll feature it on a future episode of "Sights & Sounds." E-mail our editor-in-chief Rick Kaempfer at rick@justonebadcentury.com
