SIGHTS

In the Cubs pennant winning season of 1938, the team made a managerial move in the middle of the season. Manager Charlie Grimm moved up to the broadcast booth, and catcher Gabby Hartnett took over the team.

In this old newsreel film you can see each man in his new role.

It's an incredible glimpse back in time.

SOUNDS

On September 4, 1969, the Cubs still held a five game lead over the second place New York Mets. The city of Chicago still had "That Pennant Feeling" which was captured in song by Cubs reserves Willie Smith and Nate Oliver.

It was released on Quill Records.

If you have any Cubs songs you've written or discovered, let us know and we'll feature it on a future episode of "Sights & Sounds." E-mail our editor-in-chief Rick Kaempfer at rick@justonebadcentury.com
