MIKE VAIL
When Herman Franks resigned after the 1979 season, he singled out Mike Vail as one of the "whiners" who had poisoned the clubhouse. While that may be true, he was also one of the few Cubs on that team who could actually get on base (he hit more than .300 in his three Cubs seasons). Vail might have been whining that his mustache didn't come in quite as dark as he had hoped.
