GROVER CLEVELAND ALEXANDER

How great was Grover Cleveland Alexander? He was one of the top five pitchers in baseball history.

He won the Triple Crown of pitching three times (ERA, Wins, Strikeouts), including once with the Cubs (in 1920).

*His 373 career wins is the third most in baseball history (behind only Cy Young and Walter Johnson).

*He pitched 90 complete game shutouts, which is the second most in baseball history.

*And he was the only inductee in the Hall of Fame class of 1938.

*But he never won the World Series until he left the Cubs in the middle of the 1926 season. To hear more about his great career, and see his most dramatic career moment (in the 1926 World Series against a fellow future Hall of Famer), click here.

Ol' Pete (as he was called) is NOT wearing a Cubs hat in the Hall of Fame.
